How to Turn Off Any iPad Model

Turning off an iPad without a Home button is slightly different from turning off an iPad with a Home button, but we'll explain the differences. Here's what to do:

2. Keep holding the button(s) until a slider appears on the screen.

4. If you chose to turn off the iPad, a spinning wheel appears at the center of the screen before it goes dim and shuts off.

How to Turn On Any iPad Model

Turning on an iPad is simple: just hold down theOn/Off/Sleepbutton in the upper-right corner of the iPad until the screen lights up. When the screen lights up, let go of thebutton and theiPad boots.

How to Reset and Hard Reset an iPad

Turning off an iPad isn't quite the same thing as resetting an iPad, and it's especially not the same as performing a hard reset on an iPad.
