NIC.LV, the registry operators for Latvia's country code top-level domain (ccTLD) -.lv -has announcedplans to change to the .lv domain name registration policy and the registry-registrar agreement, to bring them in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In line with the new policy, currently under public consultation, domain name registrants would only be required to provide one postal address when filling out a domain registration form (instead of two, as currently required). Currently, a domain name holder who is a natural person has their telephone number and e-mail address published. This would no longer be the case, and the registry will put in place an electronic contact form to allow communication with the domain name's holder. The changes proposed to the agreement between the registry and registrars would include detailed provisions on 'personal data protection', while defining the roles and responsibilities of the personal data controller (the registry) and the processor (registrar).?
