U.S. appeals court rules that Vimeo cannot be held liable for copyright infringement

A US appeals court has decided not to prosecute video-sharing website Vimeo for copyright infringements for 'unknowingly hosting older music uploaded by its users'. The case was closely followed in Silicon Valley, as 'Today's ruling by the Second Circuit is a significant win for not just Vimeo, but all online platforms that empower creators to share content with the world.' On the other side, the court decision was a blow to record labels, who are looking for broader protections.
