US President Joe Biden during his first State of the Union address urged the congress to approve the new rules to protect children online, especially on social media. He stressed on the need of stronger privacy rules for children, banning targeted advertisement aimed at children; ensuring social media companies to design products keeping child safety in mind. He added that the White House plans to make specific funding requests to study and improve child safety online.
