Cisco 802.11ac Wave 2 -The Performance You Need, At the Price You Want

Sep, 17, 2015 Hi-network.com

It doesn't matter whether you're running the IT department for a small operation or a multi-national conglomerate; you're going to share similar worries. Whether it's securing your network or keeping it up-to-date, both large and small companies are feeling the effects of the growing need to support wireless devices and maybe more importantly the growing impact of their applications. The difference is, the bigger company usually has the money and the resources to address those issues while building for the future. The little company? Not so much.

Until now.

As part of Cisco's Mobility Express solution announcement on Tuesday, September 15, the Cisco Aironet 1830 Access Point (AP) was released. This access point joins the Cisco Aironet 1850 Series Access Point-released in June-in helping smaller and medium-sized business keep up with the big companies.

Cisco Aironet 1830 Series Access Point is the lowest cost enterprise-class access point on the market and is a terrific first step in preparing for the impact of new 802.11ac Wave 2 devices and the applications they serve. It's inevitable that your customers will demanda high-performance, reliable network to do their job, get information or basically go about their day-to-day activities. However, many organizations leave this to chance by deploying consumer solutions or compromise on solutions that do not have an enterprise-class pedigree.

802.11ac Wave 2's more than doubles the Wave 1 standard, meaning that Wave 2 devices will be the first to allow at least one gigabit of throughput. Not only do these high speeds and efficiencies provide the bandwidth to support increased traffic, but it also supports far more clients.

And you're going to need that increased performance, because every day more devices are coming into your business. The information that is being transferred by those devices aren't text-based any more. The majority of data traffic will be video which eats up a ton of bandwidth. Add the Internet of Things (IoT) devices that are becoming more and more prevalent and it's great that Aironet 1830 allows for more client support, in smaller environments.

Larger companies will be able to make the jump to this new technology standard quickly. But smaller companies may not have this luxury and will squeak by with antiquated wireless and that's where the Cisco Aironet 1830 comes in: the Cisco Aironet 1830 is the most affordable Wave 2 solution on the market.

The Cisco Aironet product family is the answer to jumpstarting your 802.11ac Wave 2 readiness. Especially if you're a smaller company that missed 802.11ac Wave 1, or earlier 802.11 standards, because you didn't have the money to update your network.

And it's less money than you might think coming in at anywhere from 50% less than other enterprise-class access points on the market. If you need more performance than the Cisco Aironet 1830 has to offer you can step up to the Cisco Aronet 1850 Access that is still 28% less than those other guys' access point.

You may ask, what is the right Cisco 802.11ac Waver access point for me? Read this table to determine which Cisco access point works best for your organization.

With the access points' price point and its incredible range of functionality, it's obvious to just about anyone that Cisco has turned its sights on leading the 802.11ac Wave 2 transition. By preparing for 802.11ac Wave 2 implementation, you'll be able to address application and Wi-Fi traffic growth. 802.11ac Wave 2 provides better performance, coverage and improved client density support and all Wi-Fi devices will reap that benefit. The reward is improved user experiences that help you securely launch new services to activate innovation across the entire organization.
