In an event attended by the International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) Secretary-General Houlin Zhao and the World Economic Forum (WEF) President Borge Brende; a new Digital Cooperation Organisation was kicked off by four Arab countries -Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia -and Pakistan to accelerate innovation and the digital economy. The organisation, whose budget is expected to reach US$1 trillion in the next three to five years in these countries, will focus on empowering women, youth, and entrepreneurs to drive a better digital future for all. 'Our future prosperity will depend on the digital economy,' noted Saudi Arabia's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Amer Al-Swaha. He further explained that for the digital economy to reach its full potential, governments should collaborate with businesses and entrepreneurs so they can survive and thrive, expand their depth into current markets, and open doors for everyone into new markets.
