The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is carrying out public awareness on the benefits of national digital ID. MCMC states that once implemented, people will no longer have to carry multiple identification tokens as the digital ID system will be done through mobile phones. The commission is also assuring the public that data security measures have been put in place to ensure that online transactions can be done securely. MCMC had been directed by the Malysian Minister for Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo to carry out a study on implementation of national digital ID.
