Microsoft decided to decrease the charges paid by independent developers to sell computer games on its online store. Developers will take 88 percent of the revenues from their games instead of 77 percent. The move aims to attract independent studios and become more competitive in the market.
The share of income that developers take has come under debate recently. Google and Apple have faced antitrust lawsuits for the 30 percent fee they charge from developers. While Epic Games sued Apple and Google separately alleging they violated anti-competition laws by forcing developers to use their payment systems.
