Philippine National Statistician and Statistics Authority (PSA) Undersecretary Dennis Mapa has stated that the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card facilitates online and offline authentication. He explained that relying parties of the national ID system may perform physical inspections based on the physical security features of the PhilID. The government is also in the process of rolling out a quick response (QR) code for online verification of data encoded in the PhilID.
The statistician also stated that more than 32 million Philippinos had already registered for PhiID.
