Self-driving buses in trial in Stockholm

Inhabitants of the city of Stockholm can use driverless busesfor free during a trial project implemented by Ericsson in collaboration with the Stockholm City. The buses can transport up to 11 people and will travel at a speed of 24 km/h. They will also have a driver on board. According to Ericsson, the aim of the project is to test the driverless buses over a longer period of time on public roads, under real traffic and weather conditions. Remote takeover and human responses will be tested as well during the trial. The project is implemented as part of the Drive Sweden programme launched by the Swedish government in 2015.
