Consumers International and the Internet Society (ISOC)conducted a consumer survey in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, the UK, and the USA dealing with people's attitude towards Internet of things (IoT) devices. According to the results, 63% of people surveyed are concerned with the way devices collect data on user behaviour; 53% distrust the devices to protect their privacy and handle their information in a respectful manner; 80% know how to set and reset passwords, but only 50% know how to disable user data collection. Finally, 88% of survey participants think that there should be 'legal privacy and security standards for manufacturers'; 81% 'manufacturers should only make connected devices that protect privacy and security', and 80% think that 'retailers should ensure that connected devices they sell have good privacy and security standards'.
