The UK Department for Transport concluded its public consultation concerning thefuture of drones in the UK. The consultation proposed policies for drone use and enforcement and touched upon the following topics: the minimum age requirement for operating drones, the size of the area around airports and runways in which drones should be banned from flying, the powers needed by the police to monitor drones use and the further use of counter-drone technology. Based on the consultation results, the government plans to legislate a drone bill in 2019. The bill will focus on giving police the power to deal with drone misuse, (including issuing fines) and improving the protection of airports by extending the area in which drones are banned from being flown, and other points.
