TikTok announced it will create a European Transparency and Accountability Centre, first only virtually and in 2021 located in Ireland. The Centre will allow European researchers and policymakers to analyse how its staff moderate content, its recommendation technology and the management of non-personal data. The move aims to address concerns over privacy and safety of the platform young users. TikTok has more than 100 million users in Europe.
