An official public service announcement about hostile cyber activity intended to compromise election infrastructure has been released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
The agencies stated that it is unlikely that attempts to breach election infrastructure will result in widespread disruptions or stop voting. The notice also made clear that authorities employ a range of safeguards to reduce the possibility of hostile cyber activity compromising the security, reliability, or accessibility of election infrastructure systems.
The announcement includes several recommendations on strengthening the security of election infrastructure.
