Environmental activists protested at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, near Paris on 3 October 2020. According to a CoE report, about a dozen journalists were arrested and they were initially grouped together, separately from the activists.
Five journalists who did not have a press card were placed in custody and grouped together with the activists and released only in the evening.
The French journalists' unions and several journalists' collectives denounced these arrests, and recalled that the press card is not compulsory for the exercise of the profession of journalist.
