French lawmakers have approved a new bill aimed at safeguarding children's privacy online. The legislation, which received a majority vote in parliament, seeks to impose stricter guidelines on parents who share photos of their children on social media platforms without any restrictions. The bill stresses that the image rights of minors will be jointly handled by both parents and introduces the concept of a child's 'private life' into the civil code's definition of parental control. Under the new law, a judge may prohibit one parent from sharing pictures of the child online if the other parent disagrees.
