An open letter advocating for a herd immunity approach to Covid-19 policies includes a number of fake names among the signatories. The declaration called for an easing of lockdown measures and was signed by more than 15,000 people, allegedly experts. However, although some of the signatories were individual academics from prestigious universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Sussex and York, Sky News reported that the so-called Great Barrington declaration also included several false names. It is still unclear how many of the names in the declaration are fake and how many are actually experts. Many scientists have criticised the claims on the letter.
