New IoT botnet detected that targets IP cameras

Researchers at Trend Microhave discovered a new Internet of Things (IoT) botnet, called Persirai, which targets over 1000 Internet Protocol (IP) camera models. The company has detected around 120,000 IP cameras that are vulnerable to the botnet, and warned that many of the vulnerable users are not aware that their cameras are exposed. Most such vulnerable cameras have been detected in China, Thailand, the USA, Hong Kong, Mexico, the UK, Brazil, Italy, Japan, and South Korea.
