According to the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Ukraine's Defense Ministry has been granted free access to Clearview AI's facial recognition software. Reuters reports that the company has offered 'to uncover Russian assailants, combat misinformation and identify the dead', also claiming that Clearview had more than 2 billion images from Russian social media service VKontakte at its disposal. Albert Fox Cahn, executive director of the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, 'once you introduce these systems and the associated databases to a war zone, you have no control over how it will be used and misused'.
