The US has contacted Switzerland's foreign ministry over the last few weeks raising concerns about its use of China's telecommunications provider, Huawei's technology in its 5G network. US authorities claim that Huawei is required to provide information to Chinese authorities and so the Swiss communications infrastructure is at risk. The Swiss have denied that any clear evidence has been presented that proves the Chinese technology is being used for any other reason. The Swiss view the current issues as an extension of the ongoing trade battle between the US and China which is now involving other countries.
