Several Egyptian authorities suspended biometric identification systems following the coronavirus pandemic. Attorney General General Hamada al-Sawy announced that fingerprint biometric attendance systems for justice sector officers would be put on hold while Minoufa Governor Ibrahim Ahmed Abu Laimon suspended the fingerprint biometric system for the state servants. Banks which use fingerprint biometrics are also seeking alternative identification systems, reports Egypt Today.
