The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has published new guidelines for assessing the proportionality of measures that limit the fundamental rights to privacy and to the protection of personal data. These EDPS Guidelines aim to simplify privacy-friendly policy making and to ensure that policymakers are well-equipped to adequately assess the necessity and proportionality of a proposed measure.
