Facebook reacted to President Joe Biden's affirmation that platforms like Facebook are killing people by allowing disinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine to spread online. Facebook's vice president of integrity Guy Rosen posted on the corporate blog post Moving Past the Finger Pointing that 'data shows that 85% of Facebook users in the US have or want to be vaccinated against Covid-19'. In addition, Rosen mentioned that since the beginning of the pandemic, Facebook has removed more than 18 million posts of Covid-19 misinformation and has labeled and reduced the visibility of over 167 million pieces of Covid-19 content. The post regretted that the Biden administration has chosen to blame a handful American social media companies at the time Covid-19 cases are rising in the US.
