Oxford University's Institute for Digital Archaeology is collaborating with UNESCO to gather five million images of antiquities throughout Syria and Iraq. They will place hundreds of internet-enabled 3D cameras around important sites to take full photographic records of them. This will enable local teams to rebuild antiquities using 3D printers if they are destroyed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
