The Netherlands' Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate Policy has warned of potential delays in the national 5G 3.5GHz mobile frequency licence auction, possibly extending into 2024. The government's plan to make the spectrum available for 5G services in December faces a court hearing in October and hinges on finalizing an agreement with satellite operator Inmarsat. Legal actions against the 5G spectrum policy have been filed by Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
So far, the delay has impacted the rollout of 5G in the Netherlands, as mobile operators are unable to access the high-spectrum frequencies needed to offer faster 5G network speeds.
