UK House of Commons passes the 'Snooper's Charter' Bill

The House of Commons in the UK Parliament has passed a revised version ofthe Investigatory Powers Bill (known as the 'Snooper's charter'), which now moves to the House of Lords for consideration. This new version provides that tech companies can only be asked to remove encryption that they themselves have put in place, and if doing so is technically feasible and not unduly expensive. If these conditions are not met, companies ordered to break encryption would have the possibility to appeal to the Secretary of State.
