A senior US official stated that the White House would host cyber officials from 37 countries and 13 global companies to address the threat of ransomware and other cybercrimes. This is the second meeting since the establishment of the initiative in October 2021, which seeks to set global norms to counter ransomware threats and hold malicious actors accountable. US officials stated that ransomware attacks have significantly increased in the US in the last 18 months, with over 4,000 attacks reported outside the US.
