Liberia's Mines and Energy Ministry and National Identification Registry (NIR) willundertake biometric documentationof mining agents, mineral inspectors, and mineral license holders. This follows a resolution of a meeting between the government and over 200 mining industry stakeholders.
The scheme will also register non -nationals, in acknowledgement of the contribution of other nationals who contribute to small scale mining in the country. Many West African nationals are involved in the mining of gold and diamonds in Liberia.
