According to a news report, the government of Uganda has fully restored internet access in the country after close to a month of restrictions that commenced just before the presidential elections on 14 January 2020. Apologising for the inconveniences caused, the Minister of State for Information, Communication Technology and National Guidance Peter Ogwang in a tweet said that 'Internet and Social media services have been fully restored.' He also stressed that the government's action to shut down the internet was for the security of the country. According to the report, the government still faces criticism with many reporting that Facebook in particular is still not accessible.
